Welcome!

The University of Wisconsin Medical Radiation Research Center (UWMRRC), in the Medical Physics Department is a non-profit education and research-oriented service laboratory. Calibration services are available for most radiation measurement instrumentation available in the medical or health physics community.

The UWMRRC has four primary objectives: 1) Educate and train graduate students in the Medical Physics Department, 2) Conduct research in ionizing radiation metrology, 3) Provide accurate and precise calibrations for radiation measurement instrumentation and sources, and 4) Provide federally mandated personnel radiation exposure monitoring services.

The UWMRRC is the only non-government research program dedicated to radiation metrology.

Radiation Calibration Laboratory (UWRCL)

ImageThe University of Wisconsin Radiation Calibration Laboratory (UWRCL), provides calibration services for most radiation measurement instrumentation available in the medical or health physics community.  The UWRCL is an Accredited Dosimetry Calibration Laboratory (ADCL), by the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM).

ImageUWRCL services are Accredited by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) to ISO/IES 17025:2005 and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1-1994 standards (A2LA Certificate Number: 1664.01).

UWMRRC Research Program
"If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?"
- Albert Einstein

The University of Wisconsin Medical Radiation Research Center (UWMRRC) trains students in the Medical Physics Department at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. For general questions about applying for graduate studies in medical physics, please visit the medical physics application information page.

UWMRRC Graduate Students are supported through the UWRCL's calibration service fees and research contracts. We invite you to browse the projects and the students working on them. Feel free to contact the students via e-mail if you have any questions.

Newsflash
ATTENTION! Due to the complexity of processing calibration requests from international institutions, the UWMRRC will be implementing a standard set of procedures for handling international shipments effective January 1, 2008. Order packets will be available through the International Shipments link on our web site. These procedures will allow for the most efficient processing of your international calibration order. Custom import/export arrangements will incur additional costs.

WE'RE MOVING! The UWMRRC will be moving to our new facility in the Interdiciplinary Research Complex at the UW Hospitals and Clinics in mid 2008. Visit often as we update our timetable for the move.
